ABN AMRO x Driving Dutch Design

08 October 2019

Driving Dutch Design,<br /> ABN AMRO
Minimalistic, experimental, innovative and radical: Dutch designers have long been praised for their work and their design thinking. ABN AMRO understands how important Dutch Design is to the country’s economy and is a strong advocate of entrepreneurship in this sector.

ABN AMRO has been supporting the Dutch Design Week since 2009. Initially as a partner, and since 2011 as a proud main sponsor.

Designers giving their all

Success is about more than just making money. Success is also determined by our impact on the world around us. If that impact is positive, the financial results will take care of themselves. In everything we do, we ask ourselves this: How can we bank for better, for generations to come? Sustainability is at the heart of ABN AMRO's strategy. To achieve the targets of the Paris Climate Agreement, everyone needs to do their bit – including the business sector. ABN AMRO supports talented Dutch designers who give their all and whose concepts are based on sustainability: by sharing our expertise, setting up networks, giving the designers a platform and commissioning work from them.

Ten months of developing business skills

ABN AMRO was the initiator behind the annual Driving Dutch Design programme: every year, the bank helps [twenty] up-and-coming designers to develop their business skills over a period of ten months. The programme is a partnership with the Dutch Design Foundation and the Association of Dutch Designers (BNO).

Assisted by ABN AMRO’s personal coaches, the designers attend master classes by experts and co-creation sessions, where they learn how to grow their businesses. The programme closes at the Dutch Design Week, where the participants present their designs and business plans to 150 potential customers. Their designs are also displayed in a joint exhibition during the Dutch Design Week. Since it was first launched, Driving Dutch Design has boosted the successes of more than 120 talented designers.
