Reclaimed and Stock Objects - Furniture Launch

A future oriented design house creating furniture with reclaimed, repaired and stock materials. A young brand challenging an established industry.

OFFSITE, est. in 2023, makes its debut at DDW24. Producing furniture from reclaimed, repaired, and stock materials.

OFFSITE blends aesthetic and pragmatic industrial principles to create narrative driven, long-lasting objects.

Poetry of Industry

Inspired by the robust materials, aesthetics, and design principles of industrial machines, OFFSITE transfers the aesthetics and pragmatics of industry to the consumer market. Their goods are maintainable, easy to repair, and designed to be disassembled. They age well and develop a patina, becoming cherished pieces to pass down through generations. They encourage resale and a second-hand market for their products. Industrial goods have a distinctive aesthetic—sturdy materials, bolts, visible welds, and directional colours.

Ultimately, OFFSITE creates furniture akin to tools for the home. Their pieces are closer to workbenches and tools than to museum pieces and sculptures. They are meant to be used, cherished, and worn in.

Visitors can expect to see the influence of industry in the aesthetics, materials, and communication at OFFSITE. Their furniture features aluminium, celebrated bolted connections, and raw stainless steel pieces heat-coloured by welding.

Material Choices

OFFSITE’s materials are categorised as: RECLAIMED, REPAIRED, and STOCK.

RECLAIMED materials are sourced from manufacturing waste and demolition sites across the Netherlands. These materials carry stories from their previous lives, which they transform into limited-edition products. Their availability is determined by the finite batches of useful waste, and OFFSITE prioritises these over new materials.

REPAIRED pieces are high-quality, broken objects that they repair. OFFSITE views the world as an archive of source materials, learning from past designers through the act of repair. By focusing on reclaimed and repaired materials, they challenge the idea that a design house must solely create new products.

STOCK objects are made from new materials, carefully selected for their durability and ability to age gracefully. These include aluminium, wood, and cotton, all sourced within Europe. Stock materials enable them to create scalable, repeatable pieces with an imbued narrative. Pieces that can be repaired and refinished in the future.

Visitors can see examples of each material choice through furniture and objects on display at OFFSITE’s exhibition at The Body Building location.
