In-dividual

Not as an individual, but as a ‘dividual’

The project "In-Dividual" interprets the individual not as an indivisible unit, but as a divisible entity that can display various identities through objects. This project leaves room for the possibility of personal change, acknowledging that identity can sometimes be inconsistent and contradictory.

Dividual's Identities

Modern society often fosters the illusion of a singular, stable identity. Yet, in today’s complex and unpredictable world, we encounter multiple identities shaped by different situations. This leads to deep reflection on our multifaceted selves.

This design project explores these multiple identities, symbolizing them through materials like wood. The wood represents fragmented identities, reassembled into diverse self-portraits. Each portrait is not just a persona but an expression of identity, where opposing elements like reason and emotion, softness and roughness, coexist. The design embraces these contradictions, revealing their inherent complexity.

By reinterpreting identity through various materials and aesthetics, this project explores the diverse tastes and possibilities within an individual. It invites the audience to reflect on their own inner conflicts and changes, while celebrating the naturalness of our multiple identities.
