NaTra, nature translations in ceramic

NaTra, Brings the essence of natural elements in detailed sculptures and installations, inspired by the beauty and complexity of nature.

Nature Translations (NaTra) is the art of Juna Miedema, bringing natural elements indoors. Through research, NaTra captures details from nature and translates them into ceramic sculptures. These range from works that integrate with the space as installations to handmade, detailed sculptures.

The connection between art and nature

The name Nature Translations speaks for itself: all sculptures are inspired by natural elements, primarily plants. These works are the result of scientific research into the impact of nature on mental health, combined with an artistic exploration of the forms and structures of plants.

To create these sculptures, plant forms are thoroughly analyzed. This process begins at a microscopic level, where the finest structures are designed, and extends to the overall shape of the natural sources of inspiration. Through a process of reinterpretation and translation, the sculptures develop their own identity.

They subtly connect people with the beauty and complexity of the natural world, bringing nature indoors without using actual nature. Her sculptures have the perfect combination of creating attention by recognition and keeping the interest by associations and fascinations.
