Back to the Flax

.

In the multi-annual project Back to the Flax the consortium Kazerne Young goes back to the roots and reintroduce flax through research and material experiments into modern contexts. From seeds to crop into nature inclusive applications.

Back to the Flax

Once a staple in European daily life, flax (or linseed) has slowly faded out of sight. With Back to The Flax the Kazerne Young consortium goes back to the roots. The projects taps into the potential of locally grown flax as a sustainable and circular material. We present the result of our research and material experimentation in an immersive setting. Join us on our journey from the land to the city. From seed to crop. From produce to product. Our approach questions the way we live today. By embracing a slow pace and process, where every step - from sowing to weaving - takes time. A method strongly to our fleeting, fast-paced society. Sometimes going back to the past shows you the path to the future.
