Fostering Bioinnovations

Bubbles with Benefits

100% bio-based packaging materials

The Bubbles with Benefits project develops 100% bio-based packaging materials, including bubble wraps and foams. Conducted at Aalto University and Xamk in Finland, the project aims to scale and commercialize these materials to provide functional, sustainable, and aesthetic alternatives to plastics.

Innovative packaging materials

The Bubbles with Benefits project is dedicated to developing sustainable packaging materials, including 100% bio-based bubble wraps, packing foams, and packing puffs. Made from cellulose, these materials are completely plastic-free, non-toxic, biodegradable, and customizable to suit any brand's look. These innovative packaging solutions offer the same protective qualities as plastics but without the environmental harm, helping businesses reduce their carbon footprint and enhance their brand identity with sustainable values — all without compromising protection.

Multidisciplinary project

The Bubbles with Benefits project is led by a multidisciplinary team of designers, chemical engineers, production technology experts, and business developers. Their collective goal is to optimize the materials to meet the demands for functionality, sustainability, and aesthetics, while also developing a scalable production process to bring these packaging innovations to market. The project is conducted at Aalto University and South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences (Xamk) in Finland, with funding support from Business Finland.
