What if product design no longer revolves around profits? With Dusting off Design, Pim experiments with design for people instead of companies. His alternative vacuum cleaners show that letting go of profitability, leads to better fitting, more sustainable and, above all, more social products.

Not designed for profit

Dusting off design, is a critique of current-day product design. This kind of design generally serves powerful companies, with "efficiency, price and turnover" being the criteria for their managers. But what if product designers offered their knowledge to the people around us; your next-door neighbour, a grandma on the corner or a district community? What would everyday objects, like a vacuum cleaner, look like if they no longer revolved around profit?
