Empathy and solidarity in design

This project was part of DDW 2022

Empathy and solidarity can be stirred up by design. During Dutch Design Week, we will show three projects that will make you feel a little more human again while also touching on three difficult themes; how to work together, care for the elderly and care for the disabled.

Show your human side

Empathy and solidarity can be stirred up by design. We, Studio Anne Ligtenberg, think we could all use more of this, to live more pleasantly, to tackle big problems and to be able to understand again what's going on around us.

This Dutch Design Week, we are exhibiting three projects that will make you feel a little more human again while also touching on three difficult themes; the art of collaboration, elderly care and disabled care.

About the projects

The project Trefpunt investigates how the employees of the Province of Noord-Brabant find their way in working 'differently' after the corona lockdowns. How do you keep the conversation open and going about how you want to work together?

Care for the elderly in its current form will not be sustainable in the near future. We see it coming, but we'd rather not think about our own old age. For Actiz, we developed a game in which you play together as elderly people to think about what you want to be when you grow old.

In Project Wave, we and ten others spent two years with people in care for the disabled. During Dutch Design Week, we will present the results of what happens when you approach 'stuck cases' as human beings and make real contact.

All these projects go to their destination after the DDW, so now you have the chance to see them together, play with them, cuddle them and listen to them.
