80 Jaar Vrijheid In mijn Buurt

An Immersive Exhibition

Step into the stories of Eindhoven residents from World War II and experience the tough choices they faced.

Always think for yourself

This exhibition, based on childhood memories shared by elderly people with children as part of the educational project "Oorlog In mijn Buurt (War In my Neighborhood)" encourages you to reflect on dilemmas that could mean the difference between right and wrong.

The core message of Jewish resistance fighter Miriam Ohringer "Always think for yourself," serves as the foundation of this exhibition. Sarah van Elsberg designed the concept, guiding visitors through their own choices, much like those faced during the war years. Studio jeroen van veluw translated this idea into an impressive installation that invites you to experience the stories for yourself.

About Stichting In mijn Buurt

Oorlog In mijn Buurt (War In my Neighborhood) is an educational program by Stichting In mijn Buurt, where students across the Netherlands learn through encounters with elderly people who share stories about the colonial past, migration and World War II. These stories are passed on and continue to live, with the students becoming the new heritage bearers. Together we create a past that includes everyone.
