Radiant Embrace Lamp

Radiant Embrace is a versatile lamp that celebrates human connections, inspired by 1950s-60s Taiwanese iron window emblems. Blending modern 3D printing and artisanal metalwork, it uses recyclable materials to create a design that’s both aesthetic and sustainable, suitable for any space.

Design Concept and Versatility

Radiant Embrace is a meticulously crafted lighting product that celebrates and strengthens the bonds between people. By translating symbolic emblems from 2D into 3D, the lamp offers a versatile design that can be both a statement piece on a table or an ambient light fixture mounted on a wall. This dual functionality allows Radiant Embrace to seamlessly adapt to various spaces, enhancing the atmosphere with its warm and inviting glow. The design integrates modern 3D printing technology with traditional handcrafted metalwork, blending contemporary methods with artisanal craftsmanship to create a piece that is both innovative and rooted in tradition. This harmonious balance is a reflection of the lamp's core concept: to symbolize unity through the fusion of contrasting elements.

Materials and Sustainability

The materials chosen for Radiant Embrace are as thoughtfully selected as the design itself. The lamp is constructed using recyclable R-PETG (Recycled polyethylene terephthalate glycol) and stainless steel—each material contributing to the lamp's sustainability, durability, and aesthetic appeal. R-PETG is an environmentally friendly option, ensuring the product's lifecycle aligns with sustainable practices, while stainless steel adds a touch of elegance and resilience. The combination of these materials not only underscores the lamp's commitment to environmental responsibility but also enhances its visual appeal. The interplay of translucent and reflective surfaces creates a dynamic effect, symbolizing the unity of diverse elements—much like the bonds between people that the design seeks to honor.

Cultural Inspiration and Symbolism

Radiant Embrace is deeply rooted in cultural and historical contexts, drawing inspiration from emblem patterns found in Taiwanese iron window designs from the 1950s and 1960s. These patterns carry rich cultural significance and are interwoven with the designer's personal memories. Central to the design is the Shippou pattern, a motif originating from Japanese family crests during the Heian period, symbolizing harmonious and fulfilling relationships. Introduced to Taiwan, the Shippou pattern became a defining element in the iron window designs of that era. Paired with the Shippou is the begonia pattern, which shares the same geometric foundation and symbolizes resilience and perseverance, reflecting emotions of homesickness and enduring ties within Chinese culture. In Radiant Embrace, these patterns are not merely decorative; they are imbued with stories and emotions that resonate with the lamp's overarching theme of connection and belonging. The transformation of these emblems from flat, two-dimensional designs into three-dimensional forms within the lamp is a metaphor for bringing abstract concepts like unity, and resilience into tangible, lived experiences.
