Depth Array - Reflections

A sensory exploration of depth and perception through the dynamic use of light, motion, and audio.

Depth Array – Reflections is an audiovisual installation by Robin Beekman that examines how we perceive depth trough light and motion. Presented in a dynamic space, it engages the viewer’s senses, evoking a hypnotic state trough the manipulation of light and the after-image effect.

Perception of Depth

Depth Array – Reflections is a site-specific version of Depth Array. This installation makes use of the basement of the Koelhuis in Eindhoven, creating a 360-degree audiovisual experience that delves into the complexity of depth perception. The installation consists of custom-built fixtures that create shifting planes of light within three-dimensional space. As the speed of the installation increases, the phenomenon of after-image becomes more pronounced, creating a mesmerizing effect that captivates the viewer. The interaction between light and shadow within the space immerses the audience in a challenging experience, blurring the boundaries between reality and perception. Depth Array - Reflections invites the viewer to explore the limits of their sensory experiences and to reflect on the nature of visual perception.
